I think when he show us the 8 of diamond he takes two cards. So when he discard the blue it's not the 8 of diamond but the 5.

What do you think ???

yeah bob I was thinking the exact same thing. Also, I was wondering if this is a rigged deck, since we never see the rest of the cards.

The blue card is on the bottom of the deck. As he shuffles, he pulls cards from the top. But then he shows the bottom card from the original deck, cuts it in, where it ends up in the middle. It can then be identified as it is a different color.
